Q: Can a strata manager attend an event that has been sponsored, regardless of the value of that sponsorship?
A: Yes. Sponsorship of an event is not a personal gift to the event attendees.
Q: Can a strata manager accept a ticket to a social event as a gift, where that ticket value is over $60?
A: No. This would be a breach.
Q: Can a strata manager attend a social event where a ticket has been purchased for them, and that value is under $60?
A: Yes. Make sure it’s recorded in your gift register.
It’s also important that you are aware of and comply with any policies your employer has in relation to attending industry events.
