Yesterday morning we were delighted to meet so many of you and introduce the WiS Mentoring Program. With thanks to Macquarie Bank for hosting us, attendees enjoyed a delicious breakfast while hearing from our amazing panel about what a difference having a mentor, and being a mentor, has made in their career, and life in general.

For me, a highlight was to hear from Robert Van Aalst and Amanda Farmer about their mentoring relationship and to understand the insight, strength and confidence both mentor and mentee have gained from each other.

We heard from Laura Mears, that sometimes, when times are tough, it is as simple as having someone you respect tell you to get out of bed and get dressed and Susan Hancock shared for us how important having mentors has been during her career change from fashion to strata.

The panel were honest, raw and engaging, holding nothing back in providing thoughtful responses into their experiences and career progressions which were achieved with the help of mentors.

Applications are now open to both mentors and mentees to join our fully supported program. Application forms are available from our mentoring page. Applications close November 6.

After you join the program you will be provided with a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide which will include ice-breaker questions, goal setting sheets, and tips and tricks for getting the most out of the connection. We will also be available to assist along the way, ensuing everyone who joins is able to benefit and walk away with more confidence and self-belief – our number one outcome goal in launching the program.

Any and all questions are welcome, as is any feedback you may have.

BIG thank you must go out to our panel of Robert Van Aalst, Amanda Farmer, Laura Mears and Susan Hancock for their open, frank and real conversations. It was an absolute delight to discuss the importance of mentorship with a group of diverse, successful and very much “fulfilled” people.
